Who's who...(Part 1)

Published on 21 April 2021 at 18:18

Who makes your car?...

You might be reading this and thinking, I know that.
Well done. Medal is in the post (Only kidding, we don't have any budget).

There will be people who will read this post and think "Ooooooo, I didn't know that".
As of right this very moment and we're talking (Checking calendar) today (21st April 2021), these were the top ten largest car companies in the world.

This is by group and not by individual manufacturer, so before you message us telling us we're wrong. We're not ;)

01: Volkswagen
02: Toyota
03: Renault / Nissan Alliance
04: Stellantis
05: Hyundai
06: General Motors
07: Honda
08: Suzuki
09: Geely
10: BMW

We're not about to use "Dazzle Science" in order to tell you why, but in laymans terms, its to do with volume. Not by turning up your telly, but by how many they've sold collectively as a group. Incidentally, the more companies they take over, the bigger the volume, the more they climb the ladder towards number one. Some may be surprising considering, but remember, this is a "World" chart, so takes volume figures worldwide and some markets sell more of one brand than another and vice versa. Got it?

The next part of this post concentrates on the car companies who own, or are owned by others. For the purpose of this post, we're only going to concentrate on brands that are available for sale in the UK.

The world of cars is constantly changing. Only a few years ago, one of our mother in laws was hell bent on buying British and like most relatives, don't listen. Didn't want any of that "Foreign rubbish" she proclaimed. Ended up buying a Vauxhall, which model was a rebadged American car based on a model from South Korea.

Nothing wrong with the car, just the perception.

So there you have it...
