Just out of warranty?...

Well, thats a bit of a bugger, isn't it?

We feel for you. No, really, we do!

What could be more frustrating than owning a vehicle all throughout its warranty period, for it to expire and something go drastically wrong.

Well, don't take this as gospel as every scenario and vehicle is different, but you may still get help.

It will all depend on your vehicle and your continued care for it over the years of ownership...

Thats a start. Other factors will be taken into consideration. If its done Starfleet mileage, then you may as well save your breath and not even bother asking as with wear and tear, despite regular servicing intervals, it doesn't prevent components from wearing. Prolonging the vehicles lifespan is the key, but things will still wear and break.

That said, if you feel that you have been robbed, have a word with your garage. They may be able to do a pre-claim. This will take into account the vehicles age, mileage and service history. Without the latter, you're not going to get anywhere.
Now, we're not saying this is a given, as it could still be a no. A chance however, is always worth a shot.

Be prepared for contributions though. A manufacturer is not bound to assist on a vehicle outside of its warranty, but if the vehicle presents itself with an issue that is bizarre, not common and all the criteria asked for stacks up, you may get asked to pay some towards it.

Don't shoot the messenger. If it happens to you, its always worth asking. Every brand is different, but work to similar practices. So, as we say, don't take this as gospel or even for granted. If it's a no, there's a good chance that the criteria isn't met and the cost of repair will fall to yourself.

Good Luck!
